Dr Geoff Dean is a Professor at Griffith Criminology Institute at Griffith University in Brisbane, Australia. He is an international peer reviewer and guest editor for several prestigious journals, publishes extensively, and consults globally with police and security organisations. His areas of professional expertise, teaching and research specialisation are in countering violent extremism (including right-wing extremism), entrepreneurial transnational organised crime, knowledge-managed policing, criminal profiling, investigative psychology, preventive security and crowd safety management. His published works include two books by Oxford University Press (OUP) in the UK on Organised Crime: Policing Illegal Business Entrepreneurialism (2012) and Knowledge Management in Policing and Law Enforcement: Foundations, Structures, Applications (2007). His latest book is on Neurocognitive Risk Assessment for the Early Detection of Violent Extremists (2014) published by Springer, New York. Professor Dean is a specialist consultant on project funded by the Gold Coast City Council to develop Safety Management Plans for the Southport, Surfers Paradise, Broadbeach, and Coolangatta precincts as part of the security arrangements for the Commonwealth Games in April 2018.
